Little Kulala Lodge, Namibia, Africa June 12

June 12
I ‘m up at 5am to catch a 2 hr. international flight to Windhoek, Namibia, where I am met by the pilot and 10 other passengers who have stopped at this airport to pick me up (picture 1). I get to sit in the co-pilot seat for the1 hr flight to the middle of nowhere landing strip! (picture 2) Our Camp Guide meets me and the other 2 people who are going to stay at the same lodge, and drives us 30 min to the Camp. Little Kulala Camp, consists of 11 bungalows located near red sand dunes that continue 110km west to the Atlantic Ocean., designed to connect with the surrounding environment. (pictures 3, 4)
With 6 other quests, we take an afternoon jeep ride to the mountains to see the sun set behind the red sand dunes. The shy lit up in rainbow colors, then became completely red (picture 5). As the sun came down, the grassy tan plains turned golden.
Even though there is no internet access, there is a computer available in the library for me to look at my pictures and at least choose the ones I will upload in 11 days when I return to Miami. I can also use Word to write for my blog, and then copy it onto a CD.
I ate dinner with Johann, one of the camp managers, a very good looking, mature, 31 yr old. He is a white Namibian, who went to college in S Africa, and then travelled the world for 6 years working along the way, returning to and falling in love again with his country.
